The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office was proud to participate in Ocean City's Annual HERO Walk this morning. Detective Jennifer Burke and Detective Chelsea Burns represented our office on the boardwalk, showcasing our HERO patrol vehicle to highlight the vital importance of safe and responsible driving.

The HERO Campaign was created following the tragic loss of Ensign John Elliot to a drunk driver, turning a profound personal loss into a mission that saves lives. We are honored to continue our partnership with the organization in advocating for designated drivers across Atlantic County.

Earlier this afternoon, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office held the swearing-in of Chief of County Detectives James W. McGowan. We were honored to be joined by Chief McGowan’s family, colleagues, and law enforcement partners from across the county—including Superintendent Jeanne Hengemuhle of the New Jersey State Police, who spoke on her years of working with Chief McGowan prior to his ACPO appointment.

Congratulations Chief McGowan!

It is with great sadness that the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announces the passing of Director of Community Outreach Richard S. Cornett.

Rich served in a position he truly loved. His work gave him the opportunity to connect with people throughout the community, something that came naturally to him.
