Building Lives, Together
At Good Samaritan Outreach, our mission is simple: provide a safe space where individuals can stay, rebuild their lives, and work toward a brighter future—entirely free of charge. By removing the burden of living expenses, we give our residents the room they need to focus on growth and independence.
To keep our facility running smoothly and fully accessible, we provide all the everyday essentials our residents need. We are currently welcoming donations of household and personal care items to keep our shelves stocked.
If you are looking for a practical way to make an impact, we are currently collecting:
Personal Care Items
• Shampoo & Conditioner
• Deodorant
• Shaving cream
• Toothbrushes
Facility & Cleaning Supplies
• General cleaning supplies
• Bleach
• Floor cleaner
Every contribution directly supports someone on their journey to self-sufficiency. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our doors open and our community thriving!

"Did you know that one of the biggest hurdles to securing employment or housing is simply not having a physical ID? Without an official address, replacing lost documents can feel impossible. Our outreach program works directly with individuals to navigate this process, breaking down barriers to stability one step at a time. Guys come into our program with NO documents at all, starting from ground zero. This can feel like a dead end for people who are used to getting what they want right at the moment they want it. To all of the prayer warriors, we need you to pray that our brothers who are in the program stick around long enough to start reaping the benefits. I've seen guys come in and hit the ground running and then leave right before their documents come in. We need you to pray that our guys don't leave the nest to early."

Let's start this Monday right! To all of the early birds in McAlester, we hope all of you have a good day and a prosperous week. Today we want to notice someone who wanted to remain anonymous. This person came into our program with the hope to get his life on track. He stayed in the fight and now he is moving on to the next season in his life. He has learned how to and decided to take responsibility for his life. He is one step closer to complete independence. He has one more step to take before he is completely done with our program. Off to the transition house he goes. We know he will do well.

We are incredibly proud to recognize Lawrence Underhill and Joseph for their dedication to pursuing higher education. Lawrence has chosen to advance his skills in business and computer engineering, while Joseph is focusing his studies on game design.
Balancing academic pursuits with full-time employment requires immense discipline, and we deeply admire their commitment to personal and professional growth. We are fortunate to have a strong, driven team, and we look forward to supporting more of our team members as they achieve similar milestones in the future.

Exciting Updates at the Thrift Store!

A transformation like this requires an incredible community effort. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who took part in the renovation process. A special thank you goes out to the incredible team at "Thrive" (G.S.O.)—your teamwork and dedication made this vision a reality. Behind the scenes, our staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly all summer long, moving with incredible coordination to secure, process, and organize a massive selection of inventory. Thanks to their hard work, our shelves are fully stocked and ready to keep McAlester prepared for the upcoming season. Leadership could not be prouder of the team’s outstanding efforts. Stop by this week to explore the new layout and browse our fresh arrivals. Have a wonderful day, McAlester!

Today, I want to make a post about something I know for a fact is universal. At one point or another, we all go through something that changes our life forever. For some, that "thing" is liberating at heart, and for others, it's something that is painful. Whichever one it is for you, I just want you to know that there is a life well worth living after the impact and lesson learned. It may hurt but stay strong. Lessons that hurt still hold lifelong value. There is hope, even in darkness. When you make it out of the trial, you will have become a light for the world.

At the end of the day, you can't truly care for others if it doesn't come from a place of love. In our line of work, caring isn't just a checklist of tasks or a daily routine. It's a heart thing. It's about listening with empathy, showing up fully, and treating every person with the dignity and respect they deserve. Love is the root that holds it all together-it transforms what we do from just "a job" into a meaningful purpose. When you lead with love, even the smallest gestures can heal a heart or restore hope. To everyone out there pouring their hearts into caring for others today: thank you for your beautiful hearts. Don't forget to pour that same love into yourself too!

To Every Community Health Worker: Thank You.

Your dedication, resilience, and quiet advocacy do not vanish into the background. The families who finally understand their diagnoses, the seniors who feel less isolated, and the advocates watching the shifting tides of public health know exactly what value you hold. Whatever shoes you fill in the community, it is not overlooked, there are people watching who appreciate everything you do, and we appreciate you.
Thank you for being the heart, the eyes, and the true pulse of community health care. We see you, we value you, and we will continue to amplify your vital role.
