The Pike County Emergency Management Agency held a weather briefing provided by the National Weather Service office in New Orleans, along with various departments throughout Pike County and our municipalities, to discuss the potential risk of hurricane weather this weekend.

As the storm currently stands, the projected landfall is near Mobile, Alabama. However, the track and impacts can change as the storm develops. Rain and Wind should be minimal for Pike County as of now. This is preliminary and is subject to change.

Our Fire Departments, Law Enforcement Agencies and our Road Departments are prepped and are on standby. The Pike County Safe Room has been checked and prepped should we need to open it.

We will continue to closely monitor the storm and will provide updates as additional information becomes available from the National Weather Service.

We encourage everyone to remain weather-aware and stay tuned to official sources for the latest information.

Today, Director Tina Reed attended the Mississippi State Fire Coordinators Meeting and the Mississippi Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Event at the Mississippi State Fire Academy.

The annual statewide meeting brings fire service leaders together to discuss updates, new business, and important issues affecting the fire service—from the state level down to our local communities and counties.

The day also provided a meaningful time of mourning, reflection, and remembrance as we honored the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to others through the fire service.

We are grateful for their sacrifice, we remember their service, and we continue to honor the legacy they left behind. 🚒🧑‍🚒
