We have some truly incredible students here at Central Fulton School District, and we couldn't be prouder to highlight their leadership, patriotism, and heart!
Last school year, student Kya Washabaugh brought a big idea to life. Inspired by a 9/11 flag display project her brother participated in at Penn State, Kya reached out to see if our school could do something similar. PSU generously donated their used flags, and Kya immediately got to work making her vision a reality.
Over the summer, Kya teamed up with friends Braelyn Barnes and Laynee Hendershot to brainstorm how to bring the campus together. They launched a special “Spartans Remember” t-shirt sale, raising funds for a local 9/11 charity. Then on September 7th, the girls alongside a crew of student volunteers worked together to plant nearly 3,000 flags around the MMS/MHS entrance.
Their inspiring dedication even caught the attention of The Fulton County News, who visited to interview the students and capture photos of the remarkable tribute.
A massive thank you to Kya, Braelyn, Laynee, and every student who lent a helping hand to honor the 25th anniversary of this historic day. You embody what it truly means to be a Spartan! 💙️ Red, White, & Spartan Blue!
