🚨 MCCORMICK COUNTY, WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON? 🚨
WHO IS REMOVING, DAMAGING, AND REPLACING DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN SIGNS?
This has gone on long enough!
Throughout McCormick County, including the Savannah Lakes area, Democratic candidates' campaign signs have repeatedly disappeared or been damaged, while Republican candidates' signs are being placed in their locations. This is happening in multiple areas of our county, and the pattern is becoming increasingly concerning.
My latest experience happened right in front of the Catholic Church.
Yesterday, at approximately 3:00 PM, I placed three campaign signs in the right-of-way, where campaign signs are permitted. Today, at approximately 12:10 PM, I returned to find the signs gone. The signs supported Representative Jermaine Johnson, candidate for Governor, and Dr. Annie Andrews, candidate for U.S. Senate.
Less than 24 hours!
These public rights-of-way are available for political campaign signs. They are not reserved for one political party. If one candidate's signs can be displayed, the same opportunity should be available to other candidates, subject to the applicable rules.
So, why does this keep happening?
Let me be clear: Political disagreement is not a license to remove, damage, or tamper with another candidate's campaign signs. Our communities deserve fair participation, mutual respect, and an election process in which candidates have an equal opportunity to make their presence known.
This is bigger than a missing sign. It is about respect, accountability, and the integrity of our electoral process.
McCormick County, we are watching, and we are paying attention.
If you witness these incidents, please document the date, time, and location and take photographs when it is safe to do so. Report suspected unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities.
We can disagree on politics without engaging in conduct that undermines our neighbors' right to participate.
The right to campaign belongs to everyone—not just the candidates whose signs you support.
