First Week Highlights at Honey Creek Forest School
What an incredible first week we’ve had at Honey Creek Forest School! Each morning, we gathered to reflect on the things we’re grateful for, from the warmth of the sun to the love of family and the beauty of nature around us. 🌞🌱
Our days have been filled with storytelling, building forts, caring for animals, and exploring the wonders of the forest. The children have been delighted to see their seedlings growing bigger each day—it’s such a joy to watch them nurture these tiny plants and look forward to the harvest. Speaking of surprises, we discovered watermelons growing in the garden and can’t wait to pick one soon! 🍉
We’ve spent time building a new A-frame fort and tipi in the forest classroom, playing and cooling off in the mud kitchen, and of course, taking care of our beloved farm animals. The bond between the children and the animals is truly heartwarming, as they help feed and water the emus, round up the babies at the feeding station, and share in the joy of animal care. 🐴 🐖 🐓
Afternoons at Honey Creek have been a peaceful time for journaling and enjoying tea. The children reflect on their day in their journals and then settle in for a story from the Magic Treehouse series during nap time. It’s a lovely way to wind down after a morning of exploration and play. 🎨📚
The creek and the lake have also been favorite spots this week, with the children spending hours splashing, exploring, and even enjoying a ride on an old raft they discovered in the boathouse. The sound of water and the coolness of the shade trees made these areas perfect for both play and reflection. 🌊🍃
Each day ended with reflections and a closing circle, where the children shared their favorite moments and set intentions for the next day. We are so proud of our young nature lovers for their curiosity, kindness, and eagerness to learn. They’ve already shown how much they care for the earth and all its creatures, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next. Here’s to many more adventures at Honey Creek Forest School! 🌿
