❤️ YOU COULD BE THE MATCH THAT SAVES A LIFE! ❤️
We have TWO opportunities for you to join the stem cell donor registry and potentially help save a life!
As many of you know, Kevin Gilham, retired Lieutenant with the Henry County Fire Department, is fighting B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He is preparing for a stem cell transplant, and we are hoping to find a matching donor.
❤️ OPTION 1: ATTEND OUR DONOR DRIVE
📅 November 30 & December 1
⏰ 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
📍 100 Ronnie Stewart Drive, McDonough, GA 30253
Come out to donate blood or join the stem cell donor registry. Both are wonderful ways to help!
❤️ OPTION 2: REGISTER FROM HOME
Can’t make the drive? You can register online and have a FREE cheek swab testing kit mailed directly to your home!
Visit: www.marrow.org
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN DONATING STEM CELLS?
Getting tested is simple! You complete a registration form and provide a cheek swab to determine your tissue type.
If you’re identified as a potential match, additional testing is completed before donation.
Stem cell donations are collected through the bloodstream, similar to donating plasma. Donors receive medication for several days to help move stem cells into their bloodstream. The cells are then collected through an IV while the remaining blood is returned to the body.
WHY ARE DONORS AGES 18–35 PREFERRED?
Research has shown that transplants using stem cells from younger donors generally have better outcomes for patients. Younger donor cells are associated with improved transplant success and fewer complications.
❤️ YOU MAY NOT BE KEVIN’S MATCH, BUT YOU COULD BE SOMEONE ELSE’S MIRACLE!
Please consider joining the registry, donating blood, and sharing this post. Every new person who registers brings hope to someone waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
Be the Match. Give Hope. Save a Life. ❤️
