The City of McHenry will begin its Riverside Drive Streetscape Improvement Project the week of November 2, transforming downtown with improved accessibility, pedestrian safety, traffic calming and streetscape enhancements.

Beginning at approximately 8:00 AM on Monday, November 2, Riverside Drive will permanently transition to one-way traffic north to Pearl Street. Motorists should watch for posted signage and prepare for the new traffic pattern.

Route 120 Project Update: Overnight Work to Begin Soon

Beginning the week of October 19, IDOT will be working overnight between 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM performing joint sealing on Route 120.

This work is being performed overnight to minimize traffic disruption.

New Open Rewards Program starting tomorrow!

A new Open Rewards promotion is here to celebrate small businesses in our downtown district along with promoting the McHenry Mile's Nightmare on Elm Street and Beyond event and the McHenry Riverwalk Shoppes Foxtober Fall Festival. All small businesses in the downtown district are eligible for rewards. Download the Open Rewards app and eligible businesses will appear when you upload your receipts for purchases 10/9 through 10/18/26. Thank you for supporting local small businesses!

The 2026 American Express Small Business Saturday© Neighborhood Champion program will open mid-October and will remain open until mid-November, or until all the spaces are filled.

Participants in the Neighborhood Champions program rally their communities to Shop Small by planning and hosting local events on or around Small Business Saturday. All participants receive a complimentary Shop Small kit of merchandise that encourages holiday shopping and supporting small businesses all season long.
