The study found Bethlehem's two- and three-person fire crews leave the department short of the firefighters a serious building fire demands, and three trucks run with no officer in charge. Its staffing plan would cost about $3.1 million a year. The city has not said which parts it will pursue.

🚨A Safer Springettsbury Township starts with proper staffing.🚨

For too long, decisions made by Springettsbury Township have slowed the progression of our fire department. Now, more than ever, we need the community’s help to move forward.

York Area United Fire and Rescue proposed 2027 budget includes six additional firefighter positions. For Springettsbury, that means increasing staffing on one fire engine from two firefighters to three.

That one additional firefighter means more hands available to get water on the fire, search for trapped residents, provide medical care, and handle multiple critical tasks when every second matters.

An independent peer assessment also identified staffing as an area needing improvement, noting that current staffing levels limit YAUFR’s ability to operate according to many industry best practices.

This investment comes directly back to our residents through a stronger and safer emergency response.

Springettsbury residents, please stay informed and get involved. Information about the upcoming budget workshops and budget presentation is included on the flyer.

If you can attend in person, please do. If you can’t, attend virtually. If you can’t attend either way, contact your Township Supervisors using the information provided on the flyer and make your voice heard.

We need your help. A safer Springettsbury starts with proper staffing.

Thank you for the International Association of Fire Fighters and their personnel for the assistance!

Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Florida's state budget for fiscal year 2026-27, restoring a Florida Retirement System cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for Special Risk members. This strengthens the retirement security of firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders, and recognizes the sacrifices they make throughout their careers protecting their communities.

We are grateful for the leadership of the Florida Senate and Florida House for making this legislation a priority and to Governor Ron DeSantis for signing it into law. This is a meaningful investment in the men and women who have dedicated their careers to protecting Florida today and into the future.

We especially thank our firefighter Brother, Senator Ed Hooper, for being the driving force behind this legislation, alongside Senator Debbie Mayfield. Thank you to Representative Randy Maggard for sponsoring the bill in the House.
