The CJ Cup Byron Nelson starts today so I’ll share a story about the history of the golf tournament, the man, and some old McKinney landmarks.

Council week and it is a busy one. I’ll be at city hall tonight from 6-8 if you’d like to discuss anything on the agenda or maybe an issue you’d like to see on a future agenda. I’m in the first conference room by the main entrance so you may have to wave at me to open the door.

Special meeting at 3 to swear in our municipal judges. Also discussing ongoing work on Virginia and Eldorado and a recap on the first Historic Half Marathon. Meetings of the Urban Transit District, TIRZ 1, and TIRZ 2 follow. Lastly the regular meeting at 6 has some rezoning.

Come by and visit if you’ve got time. Agendas are in the comments.

We celebrated National Community Development Week recently, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible team behind our Housing and Community Development Department.

From co-hosting a sold-out Affordable Housing Summit with nearly 300 community members and partners, to supporting neighborhoods, expanding access to housing, and providing essential services, this team is making a lasting impact across McKinney.

Their work spans everything from community grants and neighborhood resources to affordable housing initiatives and transit services for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income residents.

We’re proud to recognize their ongoing efforts to strengthen our community and improve quality of life for all.
