Sometimes you have to stop for a moment and appreciate the doors God continues to open.
Not long ago, Next Level K9 Texas was in Australia helping develop the country’s first professional mold detection K9 teams. Today, we are in Cape Town, South Africa, working alongside Alexuandre K9 to help prepare mold detection K9 teams that will serve communities throughout South Africa.
At the same time, we have been given another incredible opportunity to serve.
Next Level K9 Texas is conducting an Operational Readiness Workshop for Metro Police and members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), focused on preparing K9 teams for the realities they may face outside of a controlled training environment.
We will be working through realistic scenarios involving explosives detection and narcotics detection, challenging both dogs and handlers to problem solve, work through environmental distractions, understand odor behavior, make good decisions under pressure, and recognize the very real dangers associated with these disciplines.
Our goal is not simply to build dogs that perform well in training.
Our goal is to help build teams that are prepared when the training becomes real.
We are thousands of miles from Texas, working with people from different backgrounds and different parts of the K9 industry, but the mission remains the same: serve others, share what we have learned, raise the standard, and leave every team better than we found them.
None of these opportunities are taken for granted.
We are incredibly thankful to Alexuandre K9 for trusting us and welcoming us to South Africa, and equally grateful to the law enforcement professionals who are willing to train, be challenged, and continue improving for the communities they serve.
Most importantly, we give God the glory for continuing to place people and opportunities in our path that allow us to use what He has given us to serve others.
We came here to teach, but experience has taught us that when you approach opportunities like this with an open heart, you usually leave having learned just as much as you shared.
Cape Town, we are grateful to be here. 🇿🇦
Serve first. Share what we know. Never stop learning.
