Building a stronger workforce takes commitment, resilience, and partners willing to invest in people.

Recently we celebrated the graduates of the Registered Apprenticeship Program and recognized a group of individuals who stayed focused, pushed through challenges, and continued showing up for their future.

Programs like this help strengthen McKinney’s workforce pipeline and create opportunities for both employees and employers to grow together. Through partnerships with Collin College and industry leaders across the region, these graduates are gaining the skills that help move businesses and our community forward.

Congratulations to the 2026 cohort on this achievement, and thank you to everyone who continues to support workforce development in McKinney.

🎶 VENU is choosing Texas!

If you’ve driven past the 75 and 121 interchange lately, you’ve seen some giant steel framework going up. We flew our drone this morning to show some real-time context, overlayed with the Sunset Ampitheater renderings.

Expected opening is less than 12 months from now.

Economic development is about a lot more than buildings, headlines, or ribbon cuttings. It’s about creating opportunity, investing in people, supporting small businesses, and building a city where families and companies can thrive together.

This month, we’re celebrating Economic Development Week and Small Business Month by highlighting the people, partnerships, and projects helping shape the future of McKinney.

From local entrepreneurs and innovators to major employers and community investments, every piece plays a role in strengthening the quality of life we all experience every day.

As our CEO Michael Kowski shares in this conversation, “we firmly believe that the right jobs in the right place can bring community together where quality of life and opportunity intersect.”

We’re proud to work alongside business owners, community leaders, and residents who continue helping move McKinney forward.

Grab your favorite beverage and spend a few minutes hearing from the heart of our president and CEO.
