Today we taught fire prevention and safety to the kids at Cassavant (Dryden Central School District) The first class got some extra excitement when we were dispatched to a structure fire in Dryden. We made a speedy transition, most of our firefighters headed to Dryden, and the kids got to watch firefighters scramble and leave for an emergency. The second class happily adjusted as we changed things on the fly while short staffed. Have you practiced a home fire drill????

This morning our members were joined by Neptune Hose Co #1 of Dryden Inc. Dryden Ambulance Inc., Varna Volunteer Fire Co., and WB Strong Fire Company to build on the ropes and knots skills we practiced Monday. Simulations included a car over the embankment and a hunter rescue from a tree. Both are likely emergency calls this fall.

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, and while temperatures might not feel like it just yet, fall and winter are just around the corner. As you start to fire up those furnaces, there are some things you should keep in mind. https://www.wivb.com/news/local-news/former-fire-chief-on-heating-system-safety-ahead-of-colder-weather/
