🎃 For my final Pass the Mic video, I’m taking you inside October’s Power of Play event at Artis of Lakeview: The Artis Gourd Imagination Lab!

Residents tapped into their creative sides to decorate gourds of all sizes and shapes in their own way. They had a blast, and seeing their masterpieces come together was such a joy. 🎨

It’s the latest in our year-long signature program that brings multi-sensory engagement into everyday life for our residents. Each month introduces a new dimension of play, which research has shown to support well-being while building social connection.

Thank you for following along with me this week! It’s time to wrap up my time with the mic, so stay tuned to see who’s sharing stories of The Artis Way next month! 💙

As dementia progresses, a person may lose the words for “I’m scared” or “my back hurts,” even as the feeling itself stays very real. That means someone else has to notice it for them. A change in expression. A shift in appetite. These small signals matter just as much as the obvious ones, and catching them early can spare a loved one from prolonged discomfort down the road. This is the heart of compassionate end-of-life care: paying close attention, trusting what you see, and responding with dignity and calm.

🎤 Hi, Nena here! My next Pass the Mic video comes to you from the National Museum of Mexican Art here in Chicago. We planned this outing to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with our residents, and I’m so excited to share these moments with you. 🇲🇽🖼️

Outings are an important part of our programming at Artis, and they require a lot of research and planning. I look closely at how easily residents will be able to move through the space. This includes navigating the entrance, finding comfortable spots to rest, and ensuring their safety. Knowing those details ahead of time lets everyone relax and enjoy the the multi-sensory experience. 💙🎨
Join us tomorrow as we embark on another adventure! 😍

👋 Hi everyone, I’m Nena, Senior Director of Life Enrichment at Artis of Lakeview, and I’m excited to be taking over the mic this week!

🎤 If I had to sum up my job in one line, it would be that no two days are ever the same. Every program on our calendar starts long before residents gather for it. Behind the scenes, a lot of planning goes into each one, from shaping the idea to mapping out every detail so residents get the most benefit.

This is just the first of my videos this week, so check back to see everything we’ve been planning for our residents! 🗓️

Hi everyone, I’m Nena Fromm, Senior Director of Life Enrichment with Artis of Lakeview in Chicago! 🎤

This week, I’m taking over the mic to giv e you a peek into the work closest to my heart: filling every resident’s day with connection and purpose.

Some of my favorite experiences happen alongside other Artis Directors of Life Enrichment as we trade ideas and dream up programs that feel personal to the people we serve. What I love most is the chance to see each resident for who they are —with their own passions and stories to share. When a program reflects what truly matters to someone, you can feel the joy in the room.

Stay tuned this week as I share a closer look at some of the moments that make this work so rewarding. 💙

Class is back in session! 📚🍎 Local preschoolers were treated to a very special story time thanks to a pair of retired teachers who now call Artis of Potomac home.

Revisiting one's lifelong profession helps renew a sense of purpose for people on the dementia journey – and in this case, it connected them with a whole new generation of learners.

Thanks to “MoCo Show” for sharing the story!

To all our Executive Directors, thank you. Your leadership shows steady judgment, patience, and heart, and we’re so grateful for how you show up for our communities every single day.

What sets Artis apart is how deeply our values live in daily practice, and that starts with you.

You are the ones translating those values into real decisions on the floor: how a resident is greeted, how a difficult conversation is handled, how an associate is coached and supported through a hard shift.

That work shapes every experience a resident and family has with us.

You carry the responsibility of delivering exceptional care while also building up the associates who deliver it alongside you. That dual role, leading people while leading care, is one of the hardest jobs in this organization, and you do it with integrity. Thank you for the example you set and for holding the line on what matters, even when it would be easier not to. Artis is stronger because of your leadership.

Artis team, tag your ED below and tell them why you love them. 👇🎉

Who says you have to be at the club to get the party started? 💃🎶

At Artis, music and movement bring something special to every day. For people on the dementia journey, a favorite song can spark self-expression and open the door to connection with the people around them. Today’s playlist had everyone on their feet well before lunch.

Meet Monica D., Positive Partner of the Month at Artis of Davie in Florida!

National Hispanic Heritage Month honors the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans, including El Salvador, where Monica’s family is from. We’re proud to share how her roots inspire the care she brings to residents every day. 🇸🇻

“In my culture, I was raised to respect and honor my elders, and that carries over into the care I provide to our residents,” said Monica. “Putting a smile on a resident’s face makes me feel like I’m serving my purpose.”

“Monica is a caregiver who leads with intention,” said Executive Director Reggie Wilcox. “She has amazing rapport with our families and residents, and she is extremely thorough when it comes to explaining the “why” behind the care she’s providing. Our residents adore her. Whenever there’s a need in the community, she goes above and beyond. She’s super crafty and loves to jump in wherever help is needed. She’s a devoted mother, wife, daughter and sister, and she’s a great asset to Artis of Davie.”

Each month, every Artis community recognizes an extra-thoughtful associate who embodies , nominated by the people who see their care up close. Thank you, Monica, for honoring our elders with such warmth and purpose every day! 💙
