Our current county burn ban is still in effect and if weather conditions remain the same, it’s likely to be extended.
🔥🚫 REMINDER: Pottawatomie County remains under a COUNTYWIDE BURN BAN through September 15, 2026.
An additional Burn Ban Resolution has been prepared and will appear before the Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners at their next meeting for review and action.
⚠️ Please continue to adhere to the current Burn Ban and help prevent wildfires. With dry conditions, one spark can quickly start a fire.
While the Burn Ban remains in effect:
🔥 DO NOT burn brush, trash, leaves, or other outdoor debris.
🔥 DO NOT conduct open burning or recreational fires prohibited by the Burn Ban.
🔥 DO NOT toss ci******es or other smoking materials on the ground.
🔥 AVOID parking or driving vehicles through tall, dry grass—hot exhaust systems can ignite vegetation.
🔥 USE EXTREME CAUTION with cutting, mowing, or other activities that may create sparks or heat.
🔥 CHECK trailers, chains, and equipment before traveling. Dragging chains can create sparks and ignite roadside vegetation.
🚒 Help us help our firefighters. Preventing even one unnecessary fire reduces the risk to our residents, first responders, homes, property, and livestock.
Please continue to follow all restrictions of the Countywide Burn Ban until it expires or an official update is issued.
📢 We will provide an update following action by the Board of County Commissioners.
