Judge Ryan J. Moore Honored to serve Warren County as General Sessions Court Judge General Sessions Judge Ryan J. Moore was sworn in on September 1, 2022.

A life-long resident of Warren County, Moore brings a strong work ethic, extensive legal experience, and a record of community involvement to the bench. General Sessions Court has broad jurisdiction hearing criminal, civil, and juvenile cases. Moore is committed to being on schedule, prepared, and productive to ensure Warren County’s court system protects taxpayer dollars and is considerate of people’s time. He holds court five days a week and has created an efficient docket system that brings fairness to all litigants and allows everyone their day in court. Ensuring justice is served, children are cared for, and no one is left behind are issues that motivate Moore. He embraces the challenging schedule the broad jurisdiction brings, by arriving at courthouse early and working into the evening. Moore’s most rewarding aspect of being Judge has been the implementation of CASA to compliment the great work the Children’s Advocacy Center does in protecting Warren County’s most vulnerable. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate and is a volunteer guardian program that stands up for the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected. Judge Moore believes that every child deserves an opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home and this program acts as an extra set of eyes and ears to help the Court provide support for children going through uncertainty in their lives. In 2023, he was humbled to have been voted by the Southern Standard newspaper readers’ choice, “Best of the Best #1 Public Official” in Warren County during his first year in office. Moore is passionate about introducing young people to the legal profession and serves as presiding judge for the Warren County Mock Trial Team and Tennessee Bar Association’s State Mock Trial Competition. Moore is a member of the Warren County High School Career & Technical Education Advisory Board where he offers job-shadowing opportunities to students. Raised to give back to others, Moore is a member and past president of the McMinnville Breakfast Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow and member of the Morrison Ruritan Club. For more than 15 years, he has emceed the Warren County Fairest of the Fair. In his private practice, Moore was known as “the people’s lawyer” because of his focus on the issues of concern to the Warren County community. He is a former Board of Directors member of the McMinnville-Warren County Senior Center and volunteered as legal counsel for the Children’s Advocacy Center for the 31st Judicial District, the Black History Museum of Warren County. He was honored by the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Access to Justice Commission with their “2020 Attorney for Justice” for volunteering significant time assisting those in their communities who are unable to afford legal work. Moore graduated cm laude from Belmont University and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Nashville School of Law with an academic achievement earning him membership in the Honorable Society of Cooper’s Inn. In his time away from the courthouse, Moore enjoys spending time with his wife, Ashley, and their two children, Sutherlyn and Shep. A conservative Christian, Moore and his family are active members of Westwood Church of Christ where he serves as a Deacon.

One of the rewarding parts of serving as a judge is seeing young people with goals and a genuine interest in learning.

Last week, I welcomed Tysen Fisher, a Warren County High School senior and Pioneer Marching Band clarinetist, to General Sessions Court for a job-shadowing experience. Tysen hopes to attend the University of Tennessee and become a lawyer. I’m grateful to Mr. Dunlap for helping make this opportunity possible.

A special thanks to Deputy Dave Baker for being part of the day and helping give Tysen a closer look at the work of our court and local law enforcement.

It’s encouraging to meet a young man who is thinking seriously about his goals and taking steps toward them. Warren County has a bright future with young people like Tysen preparing to make their mark.

Best of luck to Tysen as he finishes his senior year and takes his next steps!

Some people leave a lasting mark on your life, and the Honorable Leon Burns was one of those.

I’m deeply saddened by his passing. He was a mentor, a friend, and a remarkable jurist whose influence on my legal and judicial career is something I will always carry with me. I’m grateful for the time I had with him, the wisdom he shared, and the example he set.

I’ll even remember the little things, like the time he made me redo my signature✍️ because it was so messy when I was practicing law. Looking back, that was Judge Burns—he cared about the details and took the time to help others get things right. It’s a memory that makes me smile even today.

The judiciary has lost an icon, but I will remember him as much more than that. I will remember a friend who helped shape the path I’ve taken and whose influence will stay with me for the rest of my career.

I’m thankful God allowed our paths to cross, and I pray He brings comfort and peace to Judge Burns’ family and all who loved him. Until we meet again, Judge. Rest in peace.

What a blessing to spend some time with the Warren County High School Pioneer football team Friday night before the Homecoming Game. We talked about leadership, accountability, and what it means to represent a community.

Warren County, uniquely, has one high school, and when those young men take the field, they represent all of us. Being a Pioneer means being part of something bigger than yourself.

As General Sessions Judge, I see every day how the choices we make, the responsibility we accept, and the way we treat others matter. Those lessons start long before we ever step into a courtroom.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to encourage these young men, and I’m proud of the coaches, families, and community members who invest in them. A special thanks to Coach Joe Ward for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of the team’s pregame tradition.

Once a Pioneer, always a Pioneer! 🚾🏈

🌶️🏆 A great night at the second annual Warren County Republican Party Ben Nixon Memorial Chili Cook-Off at Westwood Church of Christ!

There was no better place to gather and remember late party chairman Ben Nixon, than his home church. The evening was filled with fellowship, fond memories, and a wonderful reminder of the people who make our community special.

I’m grateful to have defended my People’s Choice title for another year! 🌶️ Ashley might tell you the real challenge was giving up control of her kitchen to my chili-making operation for the past few days! 😂

Congratulations to all of this year’s chili cook-off winners and special recognition goes to Tom Davis, this year’s recipient of the Ben Nixon Award, for his hard work and dedication.

Thank you to the Warren County Republican Party board for organizing such a wonderful event and continuing to honor Ben Nixon's legacy.

The CASA pipeline is strong in Warren County! We’re excited to have Pat Rust, a retired schoolteacher with a master’s degree in early childhood education, going through the rigorous training to become our newest CASA volunteer.

Pat spent a busy day in court shadowing Debbie Helton and learning firsthand how CASA advocates stand up for the best interests of children. Her experience and heart for children will be a wonderful addition to this work.

Every new advocate means another voice for a child who needs one. We’re grateful for those willing to invest their time and talents in protecting children and building a stronger future for Warren County.
