***COURTESY POST***
With the recent stretch of sunshine and warm weather, many people are heading to beaches, lakes, and pools. Yamhill County Public Health has shared an important safety reminder: swimsuit color matters.
Bright, high-visibility colors can make it much easier to spot someone in the water, especially children and less experienced swimmers. In an emergency, those extra seconds of visibility can make a critical difference.
Before you head out, consider choosing swimwear that stands out.

With it being the beginning of Internet Safety Month and school's almost out for summer, we know that kids will be spending more time online for gaming, socializing, and maybe even a little bit of learning. No matter their reason for being online, it's important to help them stay safe in the digital world.
๐ผ๐๐ช๐ก๐ฉ๐จ:
โ
Talk with your kids about online risks and responsible internet use.
โ
Use appropriate privacy settings on apps, games, and social media accounts.
โ
Encourage kids to never share personal information, passwords, or locations online.
โ
Remind them that people online may not be who they claim to be.
โ
Keep devices in common areas and stay involved in your kid's online activities.
โ
Teach kids to report cyberbullying, suspicious messages, or anything that makes them uncomfortable.
๐๐๐๐จ: If something doesn't feel right online, listen to your instincts and talk to a grown up you trust.

Yamhill County Sheriff's Office has received reports of several bear cubs on private property in the Dopp Rd / Bayley Rd / North Valley Rd area. While these magnificent animals are part of our local wildlife, interactions with humans can be dangerous so we wanted to provide a few reminders about dealing with bear encounters:
๐๐ง ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ค๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ข ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ ๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ต๐บ:
โ Do not approach or feed the bear. Keep a safe distance.
๐ Secure trash, pet food, and bird feeders. Bears are attracted to easy food sources.
๐Keep pets and children indoors until the bear leaves. Be aware of surroundings when outdoors.
๐ขMake noise from a safe distance to encourage the bear to move along.
Call 911 if the bear poses an immediate threat to human safety.
๐๐ก๐ผ๐ป-๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐: Report sightings to Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) at (503) 947-6000.
Letโs keep both humans and wildlife safe! ๐ป๐ซ

Yamhill County Sheriffโs Office recorded the following arrests involving Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) during the period May 25, 2026, to May 31, 2026.
โข On 5/31/2026 1:33 AM, deputies arrested DYLAN ROSS MONAGHAN, 23, of SHERIDAN, for DUII and RECKLESS DRIVING.
Mr. Monaghan was stopped for doing 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, following too closely, unlawful and un-signalled lane change, and reasonable suspicion of DUII. After placing him under arrest, deputies found multiple open containers in his vehicle. He was transported to Yamhill County Correctional Facility and lodged.
Yamhill County Sheriffโs Office reminds you that DUII is preventable, and we encourage drivers to always make, and stick to, a plan to avoid getting behind the wheel after consuming intoxicants.

The national ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ค ๐ข๐ญ ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ข๐๐ค๐๐ญ focused enforcement campaign, sponsored by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and administered by Oregon Department of Transportation continues through May 31, 2026.
Law enforcement agencies across the state, including Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, are participating in the high-visibility enforcement campaign with two main goals - to combine increased enforcement and a zero-tolerance policy with effective communication on the importance of seat belt use.
๐ฌ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ you get in your vehicle, remember to:
โ
Mirrors checked

Seat belt clicked
