Mientras guardas las compras, muéstrale a tu hijo cada fruta y verdura que saques. Pregúntale cómo se llama y luego cuéntale un poco sobre ella, como de dónde viene. Pregúntale para qué cree que deberían usarla: ¿en un sándwich? ¿En una ensalada?

Señalar objetos mientras dices su nombre ayuda a los niños a aprender vocabulario con el tiempo. Y cuando lo conviertes en una conversación de ida y vuelta, ¡estás construyendo un cerebro!

As you unload groceries, show your child each fruit and vegetable you pull out. Ask them its name and then tell them a little about it, like where it comes from. Ask them what they think you should use it for—in a sandwich? In a salad?

Pointing to objects as you say their name helps children eventually learn new vocabulary. And when you turn it into a back and forth conversation, you're building a brain!

Are you a parent or caregiver? Do you work with children? We are offering the Circle of Security series at our library this summer. Learn about how to develop a secure bond, learn more about child behavior, and add to your support network.

This is a free series and includes a meal and child care. Classes are on Monday and Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7:30, June 15th through July 15th (with a break on June 29 and July 1).

Our class had a blast on our field trip to the grocery store! 🛒📋 Equipped with our shopping lists and even some first-aid essentials, we were ready for anything- and learned so much along the way!
