We hope you enjoy this video that County Parks Advisory Board member, Casey, captured a few weeks ago of some juvenile Coho Salmon fry that recently hatched in Deer Creek County Park.

Casey says- "The fries are currently residing and feeding in the smaller tributaries that flow into Deer Creek at the park. These juvenile Coho are easily identified by the stripes or "parr marks" on their sides. These little fish will live and grow in Deer creek for approximately 18 months before heading downstream to the pacific ocean. These fish will then swim up to the coasts of Alaska and Russia where they will spend several years growing into mature adults. Then, they will return to the exact place they hatched from eggs (Deer Creek Park, in this case) and spawn the next generation of Coho Salmon."

We hope you will visit Deer Creek Park soon and say hi to our newest neighbors! Yay for Salmon in Yamhill County!
