When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray
table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never
charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails,
it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly. For more

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools
outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging. These
batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they
fail. For more info: fpw.org.

🚒 A LITTLE HISTORY, A LITTLE NOSTALGIA, AND A CHANCE TO SUPPORT YOUR McPHERSON FIRE DEPARTMENT! 🚒

As many of you know, the McPherson Fire Department is fortunate to have two antique fire trucks in our collection: a 1928 American LaFrance (ALF) and a 1949 Seagrave. Both are important pieces of our department’s history, and we are committed to preserving them for future generations.

Our 1928 American LaFrance has been fully restored and continues to make appearances at community events and parades.

Meanwhile, we are currently working to get our 1949 Seagrave fully operational again. We have decided to preserve the Seagrave as a “Survivor,” maintaining as much of its original character and appearance as possible rather than undertaking a complete restoration at this time.

One thing you may not know is that the restoration, preservation, repairs, and ongoing maintenance of these historic fire trucks are funded entirely through donations — not taxpayer dollars.

And that is where you can help.

👕 WE’RE SELLING T-SHIRTS! 👕

We are taking orders for T-shirts featuring our fully restored 1928 American LaFrance, along with a little McPherson Fire Department Bulldog pride.

Shirt Pricing:
- Most sizes: $20
- 2XL: $23
- 3XL & 4XL: $25

📅 Orders will be accepted now through the end of November.

📦 Shirts are expected to be available for pickup at Fire Station #1 in mid-December, just in time for Christmas.

💰 How to Order:

Payment can be made through Venmo at . If paying by Venmo, please include your shirt size in the payment comments.
If you would rather pay when your shirt is picked up, simply send us your order and shirt size through Facebook Messenger. Payment can then be made at pickup.

And if you need one more reason to help support the project…

Chief Mayberry has made it clear that he refuses to drive the Seagrave in another parade until it has fully functional brakes. Apparently, “stopping” has become one of his requirements for operating antique fire apparatus.

So, if you would like to see the old Seagrave back in a future parade — and keep the Chief from having to plan his stopping distance three blocks in advance — please help us fund the repairs before the next parade request arrives! 😄🚒

All proceeds from these shirt sales will support the preservation, repair, and maintenance of our antique fire apparatus.

These trucks are more than just old fire engines. They represent generations of McPherson firefighters who served our community long before us. Preserving them is one small way we can honor their service and keep that history alive.

We greatly appreciate the continued support of our community. Whether you purchase a shirt, make a donation, or simply stop to admire these old trucks when you see them out and about, thank you for helping us preserve an important piece of McPherson Fire Department history.

🚒 Preserving our past. Honoring our history. Keeping the tradition alive.

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is
warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or
color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away
from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can
overheat and start a fire. For more info: fpw.org.

Last week, things got a little… current around here.
A few of our firefighters recently took the plunge into Swift Water Rescue training—and you could say they really went with the flow.
They learned how to read the water, navigate strong currents, perform rescues, and work together when things get a little oar-dinary.
Was the training intense? Shore was.
Did they make waves? Absolutely.
Did we come up with this entire post just for the water puns? You bet your bass we did.
Some even worked on their modeling skills.
All jokes aside, this training helps prepare our crews to respond safely and effectively when water emergencies happen.
Because when someone’s up a creek…
We’d rather show up with more than a paddle. 😎
