๐โก Fire Prevention Week 2026: Safe Charging Is a SUPERPOWER! โก๐
๐ฆธโโ๏ธ๐ฆธโโ๏ธ McRae-Helena, are you ready to use your charging superpowers?
Every day, we use phones, tablets, gaming systems, e-bikes, power tools, and other devices powered by rechargeable batteries. But did you know that making smart charging choices can help prevent fires? ๐๐ฅ
The McRae-Helena Fire Department is sharing these six superpowered tips to help protect you, your family, and your home!
โก CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY!
๐ 1. Cheap Charger? Donโt Chance It! Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
๐ฅ 2. Feels Hot? Stop Using It! Stop using a device or battery that becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, or makes strange noises.
๐ด 3. For Tools and Rides, Charge Outside! Follow manufacturer guidance and charge e-bikes, scooters, and power tools in a safe, appropriate location away from anything that can burn.
๐ 4. Fully Charged? Time to Unplug! Unplug your device when it is fully charged.
๐๏ธ 5. Soft Surface? Hard Pass! Charge on a hard, flat surfaceโnot on beds, couches, pillows, or under blankets.
โ๏ธ 6. Out of Sight? Not in Flight! When traveling by air, follow airline rules for electronic devices and batteries. Keep devices where you can see them while charging, and immediately alert a flight attendant if a battery overheats, swells, smokes, or makes unusual noises.
๐ BONUS HOME SAFETY POWER! Make sure your home has working smoke alarms and a practiced fire escape plan. These simple steps can make a lifesaving difference!
๐ฅ Small actions. Big impact.
Let's work together to make safe charging a habitโnot just during Fire Prevention Week, but every day of the year!
