❤️ Parents, YOU Make a Difference!

During Red Ribbon Week, we're reminding parents and caregivers that they play an important role in substance use prevention.

A few simple ways to help:

Talk openly about the risks of drugs, alcohol, and va**ng.
Set clear expectations.
Know your child's friends and activities.
Be a positive role model.
Make sure your child knows they can always come to you.

Prevention begins at home, and every conversation counts!

Have a safe Halloween!

🎃 Keep Halloween fun and safe!

As kids head out for Halloween, take a moment to know where they’re going, who they’ll be with and what they’ll be doing. ✅

Set clear expectations, stay involved and keep the conversation going. A little connection can go a long way in helping kids make safe, healthy choices. 💙

🌟 Be the Reason Someone Makes a Healthy Choice!

Did you know positive peer influence can make a difference?

Encourage your friends, stand up for what you believe in, and remember that it's always okay to say NO to drugs.

Being a leader isn't about following the crowd. It's about making choices that are right for YOU!

❤️ Celebrate Red Ribbon Week by being a positive influence!

Parents and caregivers, your kids are watching. If you choose to drink, model responsibility by never driving drunk, being mindful of your language when talking about alcohol, and respecting others' decisions if they choose not to drink.

IMPORTANT North Dakota Assistance Reminder: If you receive Medicaid or SNAP (food assistance), please take a few minutes to check your benefits!

New federal laws are bringing significant changes to public assistance programs, and many families could be affected. Missing a letter, renewal deadline, or required paperwork could put your benefits at risk.

• Make sure your contact information is up to date.
• Open and read ALL mail about your benefits.
• Complete renewals and submit requested documents on time.
• Check for updates regularly so you know what changes may affect you.

Please don’t wait until there’s a problem to take action. These benefits help families access food, healthcare, medications, and other necessities. Staying informed now could help prevent an interruption in assistance when you need it most.

North Dakota residents: Visit the official ND HHS website for updates and guidance:

Kids learn from what we do AND what we say. When we model healthy boundaries, emotional regulation, and real self-care, we show our tweens how to handle stress without turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms like underage drinking.
