Ernst Conservation Seeds Largest native seed producer in the eastern United States. We sell hundreds of species of native gras

Ernst Conservation Seeds grows, processes and sells hundreds of species of native and naturalized seeds and live plant materials for restoration, beautification, reclamation and conservation. The environmental climate and professionals in the field are recognizing how important natives are in the restoration of our North American ecology, and that natives are the best choice for use in almost every scenario. We know how to harvest native seeds and grow them in a production environment. We know how to help our customers replicate that success in their own applications, and we take the time to do that with each customer.

Switchgrass does not need to be flashy to be valuable. In habitat plantings, this native warm-season grass works quietly, building cover, stabilizing soil, filtering runoff, and providing wildlife with a stronger foundation year-round. If you are planting a meadow, field border, riparian buffer, or conservation area, switchgrass can help turn open ground into functioning habitat. October is Riparian Buffer Month!
These natural transition zones are a primary defense for watershed health. Riparian buffers help control pollution, stabilize streambanks, mitigate flooding, and provide habitat for wildlife.

It’s National Farm Safety and Health Week. Fall harvest can be one of the busiest and most dangerous seasons of the year for the agriculture industry. Here are a few tips to remember when sharing the road with a farm vehicle:
🔶Don’t tailgate; stay back at least 50 feet
🔶 Do not pass unless you are in a “passing zone” and it is safe to do so
🔶Make sure the tractor isn’t turning left before you pass
🔶When you do pass, do so cautiously. Farmers will often move over if space allows

Heath Aster (Aster pilosus) is a showy, native perennial wildflower that blooms with white flowers in late summer or early fall. It may be found growing in partial shade to full sun on mesic to dry soils of fields, open woods, roadsides, and vacant lots. It has a special value to bees as it’s a late-season food source for pollinators.

The difference between native and non-native seeds can shape everything from how well your planting establishes to how much value it provides to pollinators and the surrounding ecosystem. Yet for many landowners, the distinction is not always clear, and the wrong choice can lead to poor performance. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4cCel0V
