𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝟭𝟬/𝟳; 𝟭𝟮:𝟮𝟬𝗣𝗠): ODOT has closed the intersection of Sage Road and Rossanley Drive for emergency utility work. The closure is expected to last most of the day.

Please follow the posted detour or use an alternate route. Expect delays and congestion in the area.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 (𝟭𝟬/𝟳; 𝟵𝗔𝗠): The intersection of Sage Road and Rossanley Drive is now open. ODOT is providing traffic control in the area as cleanup continues.

The damage was caused by a truck traveling through the intersection with its lift arm raised, which brought down utility lines.

Drivers should continue to use caution and expect crews to be working in the area.

🚨 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲: Due to a serious traffic crash and downed utility lines, the intersection of 𝗦𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 is completely closed to all traffic. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Traffic is being diverted at:
• Sage Road & Parsons Drive
• Sage Road & Brian Way
• Rossanley Drive & N. Ross Lane
• Rossanley Drive & Central Avenue

There is no through traffic in the affected area. Expect significant delays and please give emergency crews room to work.

We will provide updates as conditions change.

𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲: This morning (Oct. 6) at approximately 10 a.m., Oregon State Police detectives were assisting the Medford Police Department with follow-up related to a missing person investigation at a property in the 10400 block of Williams Highway.

While at the property, the OSP detectives made contact with an individual who later retreated inside the residence, and shot at detectives.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Grants Pass Police Department responded, and the incident developed into a barricaded subject situation.

Once the residence was secured, two individuals were found deceased inside the home. No law enforcement officers were injured.

Due to the involvement of the responding agencies, the MPD was requested to take over the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing, and we are unable to provide additional details at this time. Questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.

MPD had a great time at Kennedy Elementary! Officers joined students for recess, lunch and plenty of playtime, while a few of our officers got to revisit memories from their own days at Kennedy.

Back to school means more students and families are on the move. 🎒

We may have a little fun in the crosswalk, but crosswalk safety is serious business. Whether you’re walking, driving or biking, everyone plays a role in keeping our crosswalks safe.

A few reminders:
• Crosswalks can be 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱.
• Drivers should watch for pedestrians and yield as required.
• Pedestrians should stay alert and use designated crossings when available.
• Never pass a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian.

Slow down, stay alert and look out for one another.

We had a great time at the Greater Medford Multicultural Fair today!

Our team enjoyed connecting with residents, sharing information and resources, and supporting the event alongside our City Councilors, fellow City departments, and community partners.

The Medford Police Department’s 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 gives teens and young adults ages 14–20 hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities to build leadership skills while exploring careers in public safety.

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬!

Applicants must:
- Be 14–20 and have completed 8th grade (14-year-olds must be enrolled in high school).
- Have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
- Live in Jackson County.
- Pass an extensive background check.

Applicants should also be available for recruitment activities on October 5, 7, 12, 14 and 19, from 5–7 p.m.
