Today we would love to highlight our "Science of the Trades" course, where we are studying Static Structures and Engineering. This includes understanding how structures are built, what keeps them strong, what holds the material together, and how we can build our own.

For the capstone project of this, we built our own bridges out of very light balsa wood and glue. On average, the bridges had a mass of 30-40 grams. They held nearly 17,000 grams! That is over 400 times its own weight!

We are holding an IN-PERSON event for this on Tuesday, November 10th at the Learning Center! We'll split it into middle schoolers and high schoolers (junior division & pro division)! We'll test the strength of each bridge built!
