Happy Birthday, Rosa Belem Ochoa! ⭐

A fierce mom, advocate, community builder, and our Latino Community Developer!

Rosa has helped shape Bridging Communities into what it is today, and we wouldn't be where we are without her. 💙

We're definitely better together!

🎙️💗 We’re excited to share Mamás al micrófono, a Spanish-language podcast that helps humanize the experiences of Spanish-speaking mothers through stories rooted in lived experience, particularly the experiences of mothers raising children with disabilities or special needs. 💞

And you may recognize a familiar face… our very own Rosa Ochoa! As a consultant helping Bridging Communities support the Latinx community, Rosa is a powerhouse and brings so much heart to helping families feel supported. We’re excited to celebrate and share this project with her!

🤱🏼 Featuring Maria Rangel, Rosa Belem Ochoa, Mariela German Hernandez, and Joaquin Ramos, Mamás al micrófono shares real, heartfelt conversations that go beyond the diagnosis.

They deserved more time with their families, friends, and community, and all the ordinary moments of childhood that should have been ahead of them.

To the families, friends, students, teachers, staff, and entire Silver Rail Elementary School community in Bend, may the children and teacher whose lives were taken always be remembered for who they were and the lives they lived.

Hello from Salem!

We’re at the Oregon State Capitol today for a meeting of the Oregon Consortium of Family Networks (OCFN)!

Did you know Bridging Communities is part of a statewide group of family networks? We each serve different parts of Oregon, but we come together to share ideas, learn from each other, and help make sure families have a voice across the state.

With technical assistance from the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities, we’re working together to strengthen support for families across Oregon.

It’s always great to connect with others doing this work and bring new ideas back to Southern Oregon!

And since we’re at the Capitol, a little Oregon trivia! Does anyone know what the golden statue on top of the building is called?

We’re grateful for partners who help make inclusive, family-friendly events like this possible and create more opportunities for families to connect, build relationships, and make lasting memories together.

Here’s to more opportunities to make waves together! 💙
