🔥 Fire prevention starts long before there’s a fire. Sometimes, it starts with cleaning out the garage. 🧯
That old can of gasoline, leftover paint thinner, or collection of rechargeable batteries might seem harmless sitting on a shelf. But improper storage and disposal of household hazardous waste can create serious fire risks, both at home and for the sanitation workers who handle our trash.
Fortunately, Delaware County is making it easy to dispose of these materials responsibly!
♻️ Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event
📅 Saturday, October 17, 2026
📍 Emergency Services Training Center
1600 Calcon Hook Road, Sharon Hill, PA
Registration is required, and the event is by appointment only.
Accepted materials include:
* Oil-based paints, paint thinner, gasoline, and kerosene
* Lithium-ion and other rechargeable batteries
* Pool chemicals and pesticides
* Household cleaners and solvents
🚫 Electronics, latex paint, propane cylinders, and smoke detectors are not accepted at this event.
Remember, hazardous materials don’t belong in your regular trash, down the drain, or mixed together in a container.
A little fall cleaning, a little responsible disposal, and one less potential hazard around the house.
