For all our teachers out there.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Day National Committee are pleased to provide you with this easily downloadable Veterans Day Teachers Resource Guide (PDF, 32-pages, 6MB).

There are about 18 million Veterans living among us, in every state and territory, and from every walk of life. Many of the students in your class may be the son, daughter, cousin, or other relative of a Veteran or current Servicemember. By engaging in discussion about these crucial members of our society, your students will better-appreciate the freedoms we have because of the men and women who have served in defense of the United States.

Please spread the word! Share this page with other teachers and educational organizations. As Veterans Day approaches, we hope this will help your students connect with Veterans, as well as service members now on active duty.

Today, we remember the 241 American service members who lost their lives in the terrorist bombing of the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, on October 23, 1983.

Among the fallen were 220 Marines, 18 Navy personnel, and 3 Army soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. We also honor the wounded survivors and the families forever changed by this tragedy.

The Medina County Veterans Service Office honors their courage, service, and sacrifice. We will never forget those who gave their lives in defense of our nation.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
