Highland families - meet Dax! Described as the Mayor of Sharon Elementary, he consistently goes above and beyond when interacting with anyone who crosses his path. He is witty, compassionate, caring, helpful, kind, and expressive. When asked why he chooses to lead with kindness and compassion each day, he said, "It's helpful to the school, and it's important to have a good reputation. I love helping and having a good reputation." We love that you do, Dax! Thanks for making days at Sharon that much brighter!

Highland... meet VIC! Vic is the very best boy. Vic serves on a therapy dog team through Canine Companions with Granger Elementary 5th-grade teacher Mrs. Elinsky! Vic is a Labrador Retriever who loves spending time each month engaging with Granger students. He has spent the last few years listening to our learners read aloud to him while they improve their reading fluency, vocabulary, and overall confidence. He provides a relaxing environment for them to practice their skills, free of judgment. This year, he started participating with students in Granger's Running Club. His favorite part? Being fiercely loved by his friends while providing whatever support they may need.

Highland! Our Sharon Elementary Spotlights continue this week with Nurse Vicki! For the past 34 years, she has been a nurse, serving the last four years as the school nurse at Sharon. After a successful career working to care for adults in hospital, long-term care, and home health settings, she made the pivot to work with children. Working at Highland has afforded her more smiles, laughs, hugs, and high fives than she could have imagined – along with being able to hear stories about siblings, pets, athletic games, and vacations! What impact does she hope to make on the Highland community? “I hope the parents know that for me it isn't just Band-Aids and ice packs. I care about their children and love getting to know them as individuals and watching them grow and change through their school years.” We are so lucky to have you, Nurse Vicki!
