❤️📚 Talk of the Town: Lee-Whedon Memorial Library

Some places just become part of your family’s life, and before you know it, you’ve made a whole bunch of memories there. For our family, Lee-Whedon Memorial Library has been one of those places for more than 15 years, and we’re so grateful to have it right here in Medina.

When we first moved to Orleans County, our kids were still in school, and one of the things they missed most was visiting the bookstores around Amherst and Niagara County. They loved books. Like, really loved them. In fact, they read so much that when they got in trouble, we sometimes had to ground them from reading! 😂 Losing access to their books was an actual punishment in our house.

Thankfully, Lee-Whedon Memorial Library helped fill that void. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed family movie nights, wandered through every row of books, worked on homework and work-work, worked on puzzles, made crafts and participated in the teen reading club. We’ve made so many wonderful memories there.

We especially appreciate the way Lee-Whedon makes its space available to homeschool groups, therapists working with children and families, and others who need a welcoming place to meet. That kind of support makes a real difference in our community.

When the library was undergoing renovations, we offered space at Nola’s to anyone who needed it. We know how important the library’s programs and services are, and we didn’t want families to lose access to those resources while the work was being completed.

And now, have you seen their beautiful expansion? With more meeting space, a dedicated teen area, a makerspace and even more opportunities for the community, it’s a wonderful investment in Medina!

We also have a soft spot for the library staff. When Nola’s first opened, we received several group orders from them, sometimes four or five orders of beignets at a time! When you’re a brand-new little business, seeing orders like that come through the window puts a pretty big smile on your face. Heck, it still does! 😂 Those orders meant a lot to us when we were starting out, and we’ve never forgotten that kindness. ❤️

If you haven’t visited Lee-Whedon lately, go check it out! Take the kids, the grandkids or just yourself. There’s plenty to enjoy, and you might be surprised by everything the library has to offer.

Did you know that our new expansion has four new rooms available to the public? We have two private study rooms and two community meeting rooms. The Large Meeting Room is even available on Sundays or after hours. You can reserve these rooms on our website under the Events tab at the top.

Fall is here: football, bonfires, and a good book with a cup of tea! These are the things we look forward to! Our summer reading programs are over, but we have more fun planned for fall, so be sure to check out all of our fun programs under our events tab. Our expansion is almost done, and we are so excited to show you the completed space. This week, we are giving away Second Act by Danielle Steel.

As the head of a prestigious movie studio for nearly two decades, Andy Westfield has had every conceivable professional luxury: a stunning office on the forty-fourth floor, a loyal assistant who can all but read his mind, access to a private jet and company cars.
