The Medina County Health Department (MCHD) continues to monitor an increase in measles cases within the county. As of October 21, 2026, MCHD has been notified of a total of 18 measles cases (3 confirmed, 15 probable) in Medina County.

These cases are within a small group of families, who are taking appropriate precautions to isolate.

For the general public who are vaccinated, the risk of contracting measles remains low.

When a measles case is identified, MCHD contacts each individual to determine whether any public exposures may have occurred.

To date, no public exposure locations, including schools, have been identified in Medina County. If a public exposure location is identified in the future, the Health Department will notify the public promptly.

Do you need an MMR booster? The answer is probably not.

Two doses of the MMR vaccine provides lifelong protection against measles for most people.

However, some vaccine batches (mainly between 1963-1967) have been found to have reduced effectiveness. If you’re unsure about your vaccination history or whether you need another dose, check with your health care provider.

Yesterday, we hosted our first pop-up pantry in partnership with Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

We were able to distribute over 3,000 lbs. of food to 103 households!

Our next distribution will be Tuesday, November 3rd from 1-3pm.

A special thanks to our MRC volunteers and our friends at Portage County Health District and Medina Township Police Dept. for helping us with this event!

Recovery doesn’t happen all at once. It’s built through small choices, honest moments, support, and the willingness to keep going.

We recently sat down with Jake B., a Medina County resident, to hear about his personal journey through recovery, and how it has helped him rebuild relationships, find purpose, and become proud of the person he is today.
