🌎🥫 World Food Day

Today is a reminder that food is more than a meal — it is health, dignity, stability, comfort, and care.

Food insecurity impacts families, students, seniors, and individuals in communities everywhere, including right here on the Space Coast. At the Junior League of the Space Coast, we believe strong communities are built when people’s basic needs are recognized and supported with compassion.

Whether it is donating to a local food pantry, supporting a school-based resource closet, volunteering your time, or simply learning more about food access in our community, small actions can help make a meaningful difference. 💙

Look what we found while organizing our Festival of Trees vault this week! A little relic from 2019 and our 35th Annual Festival of Trees. ❤️

Of course, finding this sent us looking through old photos, so we pulled out a few from the 35th FOT to share too. It’s fun looking back at how the event has changed over the years—and how many of the traditions we love are still part of FOT today.

It’s also kind of crazy to think that was seven Festivals ago!

Now we’re busy getting everything ready for #42, and we can’t wait to see what this year brings. 🎄

📰💎 THROWBACK THURSDAY: JLSC IN THE NEWS | 1973 💎

Look who was making the pages of Brevard Lifestyle Magazine in 1973!

Seven years after our founding, the women of the Junior Service League of South Brevard were already making their mark throughout Brevard County—and building projects that would become part of our League's lasting legacy.

By 1973, members were involved in an incredible range of community work, including the Medical Showcase, Fine Arts Festival, ASPIRE, Brevard Museum Speakers Bureau and Mental Health Center. They were also developing new educational programs like Dental Puppets and History of South Brevard, bringing health education and local history directly into area schools.

🌿 Perhaps most notably, the League had begun working with the County Commission on the development of West Melbourne Hammock Park and Museum—what we know today as Erna Nixon Park. The project would become a major League commitment for years to come.

Members were also raising the funds to make that community work possible through the Castaways Shoppe, Antique Show and White Elephant Coffee.

And apparently, Brevard Lifestyle Magazine thought these women were worth talking about, too. 😉

Fifty-three years later, we're proud to look back at the women who helped build JLSC's reputation for service, leadership and lasting community impact. 💎

From the pages of a magazine in 1973 to our Diamond Anniversary in 2026—the story continues.
