Our department is excited to host Agriculture Rescue Techniques, and weโre inviting fire departments and rescue personnel from the surrounding area to join us for this valuable hands-on training opportunity!
Agricultural incidents can present unique and extremely dangerous challenges for first responders. This course will focus on the principles and techniques needed to safely respond to a variety of farm-related emergencies, including:
๐น Tractor rollovers
๐น Grain auger entrapments
๐น Farm machinery entrapments
๐น Electrical malfunctions and emergencies
๐น Chemical exposure incidents
๐น Confined-space emergencies
๐น Manure pits and grain bins
Students will learn practical skills including extrication methods, machinery stabilization, lockout/tagout of hazardous systems, patient assessment, and patient packaging.
The course will also emphasize pre-planning, with opportunities to discuss working with local farmers, agricultural equipment dealerships, repair shops, and commercial chemical dealerships.
๐จโ๐ Who should attend?
Firefighters, rescue personnel, and first responders who may encounter agricultural emergencies in their response area.
We encourage departments to take advantage of this opportunity to train together, build relationships, and prepare for the agricultural emergencies we hope never happenโbut need to be ready for.
