A big day for Whitehaven. đź’™

Today we celebrated the opening of the Robertson Family Aquatic Center — a new space dedicated to wellness, water safety, youth engagement, and community connection.

This investment is about more than recreation. It’s about creating opportunities for families, providing life-saving swim education, and giving young people a safe place to learn, grow, and make memories for years to come.

Whitehaven deserves spaces that support health, opportunity, and quality of life — and this center is a reflection of that commitment.

Castalia residents led the way.

Mayor Paul Young, alongside City leadership and department teams, toured the neighborhood with residents during today’s Neighborhood Impact Tour — listening to concerns firsthand, identifying priorities, and addressing issues throughout the community in real time. From blight and infrastructure concerns to everyday quality-of-life needs, the focus remains on showing up, listening, and taking action where it matters most.

The team also spent time with children and staff from a nearby daycare in Castalia, highlighting the importance of investing in neighborhoods for every generation of Memphians.

City crews will continue working through concerns shared by residents as the work moves forward.

This is what partnership looks like: listening, acting, and following through together.
