Thank you to our partners who joined us for the Shelby County Youth & Family Resource Center Open House last Friday!
We enjoyed the chance to showcase how the YFRC works alongside community stakeholders to support youth and families across Shelby County. By coordinating with partner organizations and providing key resources on-site, we help make connections to the right services when families need them most.
We appreciate our stakeholders time, insight, and commitment to strengthening the support network for youth in our community! 💚🧡

🖤 Black History Month 🖤
Black History Month is a time to remember where we’ve been, honor who we are, and recommit to where we’re going.
We celebrate Black excellence, culture, resilience, and contributions, not just this month, but always.
At YFRC, we honor the past while continuing to support and uplift our community today and for future generations.

In a world where bad news seems to claim the headlines and divisions feel more and more loud, it’s easy to forget that good things are STILL happening. Community building still happens. People still show up for each other. People still take care of each other and are kind to each other. Brave souls still speak their truth so others don’t have to feel so alone.
I’m immensely grateful today:
🌟 to all the community advocates who initiated this work — thank you for seeing the need and stepping into it.
🌟 to our local officials who are invested in our youth’s mental health — your belief and actions matter.
🌟 to the small, mighty team of us who work tirelessly to support young people — your effort is real, your care is real.
🌟 to the therapists who are top notch clinicians and want our youth not just to do better, but to feel better — you are changing lives.
🌟 and most of all, to the youth themselves — wise enough and brave enough to seek help, share their stories, and make change happen.
Let’s remember: hope isn’t invisible. It lives in the quiet moments, small but mighty moments, the courageous conversations, the “I didn’t know where to go but I asked,” the “someone listened,” the “I’m still here and I’m moving forward.” Grateful for every person and every moment that says we care, we connect, we grow.

Memphis’ response to youth mental health needs? Free, flexible therapy outside school
Youth Connect serves a much smaller number of students than MSCS therapists. But teens say it offers more flexibility, privacy, and independence than in-school services.
