Happy Fossil Day everyone! Check out this group of CBU searching for fossils at C**n Creek Science Center in 2000. You can still search for fossils there today! It’s one of the most important fossil sites in the U.S. with a 70-plus million-year-old seafloor deposit of about 700 marine species.

Remember that September is Save Your Photos Month, and that’s what the Brother I. Leo O’Donnell Archives strives to do. Archives are all about preservation and making history public. Some of our oldest photos are from the 1870s, over 100 years old!

In 1878, refugee camps were set up to protect people from the yellow fever. The Brothers kept records and attended Mass at the camp. In fact, Brother Maurelian Sheel, first president of CBC, caught and recovered from the yellow fever. He pushed for the Brothers to move out of city limits and requested federal involvement, contacting President Rutherford B. Hayes directly. His photo is from the 1980s.
