As of December 31, the Jay Uiberall Foundation has officially closed after 15 years of impact in Memphis. What started as a tribute to Jay grew into a community effort that supported nonprofits, empowered young people, and created lasting change in Memphis.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who donated, volunteered, laughed with us, and carried Jay’s legacy forward. Thank you for being part of the journey.

We hope you’ll continue the work by supporting the organizations we’ve partnered with over the years, because that’s what this has always been about: making an impact in our city in Jay’s memory.

Play for Jay — Jay Uiberall Foundation 03/06/2025

It is with a mix of gratitude and a touch of sadness that we share the news that the Jay Uiberall Foundation will be concluding its work at the end of 2025. As we enter our final year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact we’ve made together over the past 15 years. When we first established the Foundation to honor the life and legacy of Jay Uiberall, our goal was modest yet meaningful: to fund a single scholarship at the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management. Through your unwavering generosity and support, we far exceeded that vision. Over the years, we made grants in excess of $1 million to youth programs aimed at enriching the lives of young people in Memphis. Your commitment has helped us foster opportunities, education, and empowerment for the next generation. As we enter our final year, we will continue to fund our current commitments and raise funds for programs we’ve supported throughout the years. We look forward to our final Play for Jay Golf Classic on Friday, September 5, 2025, which will serve as both a celebration of our efforts and fundraising to support the programs that matter so much to our community. We hope you’ll join us this year as we celebrate the incredible work we’ve done together and reflect on the difference we’ve made thanks to you and our partner agencies. While the Foundation maybe coming to an end, the positive effects of your generosity will continue to echo in the lives of the young people you’ve helped. Please continue your support by registering for a team at Play for Jay or donating at jayuiberallfoundation.org to ensure that we leave behind a legacy of support for Memphis youth. Thank you once again for your commitment and belief in our mission. Together, we have created something truly special, and we are proud of what we’ve accomplished.

With deepest gratitude,

Our Jay Uiberall Foundation Pathway Workshops reflection video premiered last week at the 2024 Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) Awards. MICR is one of our grantee organizations on a mission to close the opportunity gap, create a relentlessly supportive community and drive upward mobility in under-resourced communities across Memphis. We hope you enjoy the video made by MICR alums. For reference, the kids have nicknamed the program, 'JULS', short for Jay Uiberall Leadership Series.
