Our hiring process has begun for our next LAW ENFORCEMENT/PATROL DEPUTY six-month training class. March 29, 2026, is the deadline to apply for the next training class that begins on July 16, 2026. Our schedule salary begins at $4,293/month ($51,517/year) entry pay and rises to $6,553/month ($78,638/year) after three years. Applicants must be 21 years old or older with a valid driver’s license to apply. Can live outside Shelby County.

Patrol Deputy | SCSO Careers Sheriff Deputy Recruits go through vigorous enforcement training as part of their curricula at the Training Academy. They are trained in many types of situations they may encounter as a sheriff’s deputy.

Deputy Sheriffs' Association Upcoming Events:

1) Spring Fling: DSA Friends, Family, and Community Day! Saturday, March 21st 12NOON to 5PM
LOCATION: Delta Blues Winery, 6585 Stewart Rd., Lakeland, TN 38002

2) Representatives from SMARTER DEGREE will be at the DSA on next Tuesday, February 17th. If you have not started or want to finish your Bachelor's Degree, they can tailor a program to fit your schedule. Completion in 8-12 months. With a Bachelor's Degree you automatically qualify for a 7.5% increase in your base salary...give yourself a RAISE

2) Monthly DSA meeting will be next Tuesday, February 17th at 700pm. 5120 Stage Road. Dinner will be served.

Per President Mark Lowe, tonight's DSA General Membership Meeting has been cancelled. Spend this time with family and preparing for the holidays. Merry Christmas everyone.

DSA members, the DSA will need your support at today’s County Commission meeting. If you are attending, please try arriving around 2:00pm. Per President Lowe, members coming from work have been approved to show up in uniform if you’re getting off work. They will be taking up the issue of “Medical Retirement” for law enforcement. We need your support.
