Our firefighters are out across Memphis collecting donations to support families living with muscular dystrophy. Every donation makes a difference and helps support the important work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Firefighters will be collecting donations throughout the city through October 31st. If you don’t see them out in your area, you can still make a difference by donating online:

🔥 Investing in Our Youth, Building Future Leaders! 🔥

Sometimes, all it takes is a conversation, a little encouragement, and someone willing to share their journey to make a difference in a young person's life.

Memphis Fire Chief Colin D. Burress and Fire Marshal LaPacus Faulkner recently had the opportunity to spend time with young men from the Phoenix Society mentoring program at the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering (MASE).

During their visit, both chiefs shared personal experiences, lessons learned throughout their careers, and the importance of making good decisions, taking responsibility for your actions, and surrounding yourself with people who push you to be better.

Mentorship is about more than giving advice. It's about showing up, listening, sharing experiences, and reminding young people that their choices today can shape their opportunities tomorrow.

At the Memphis Fire Department, we believe our responsibility to the community goes beyond responding to emergencies. It also means investing our time in the next generation and helping young people recognize their potential.

Thank you to MASE for welcoming us and allowing us to connect with these young men. We look forward to seeing the great things they will accomplish!

🔥 Fire Prevention Week in Action! 🔥

The Memphis Fire Department’s Fire Prevention team had a great time visiting Pre-K through 2nd grade students at Belle Forest Community School, Grahamwood Elementary School, and Holmes Road School during Fire Prevention Week!

Students learned important fire safety lessons through fun, interactive activities, including how to safely escape during a fire, the importance of smoke alarms, and what to do in an emergency. They also got to meet Sparky, tour our Fire Safety House, and practice some of the skills they learned.

Our Fire Prevention team also spent time in the community at Walmart in Cordova and Superlo Foods, sharing fire safety information and helpful prevention tips with families and shoppers.

Teaching fire safety at an early age — and continuing that education throughout the community — helps build habits that can protect families for years to come.

A special thank you to the students, teachers, staff, community partners, and everyone who stopped by to learn more about fire safety!
