Attention Village of Menands:
It’s time for our yearly NO FIREWORKS post! As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the Menands Police Department reminds everyone that the sale and/or use of ANY and ALL types of fireworks, including sparkling devices, is ILLEGAL within the Village of Menands, and ALL of Albany County.

Individuals caught furnishing, using or selling fireworks in the Village of Menands could be subject to arrest. Help us keep everyone safe this 4th of July, and let’s leave the fireworks to the professionals! Trust us, there are plenty of LEGAL fireworks displays taking place throughout the Capital Region this weekend.

Information about Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks and Dangerous Fireworks can be found under Section 270.00 of the New York State Penal Law.

UPDATE June 30th 2026. 10am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Menands Police Department is deeply saddened to announce that Harbe Nagi has been located deceased.

The circumstances surrounding Harbe’s death remain under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as appropriate.

As the investigation continues, Park Drive in Menands is closed between Wards Lane and Mountain View. Motorists and residents are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.

The Menands Police Department extends its condolences to Harbe’s family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, the Menands PBA stands with our community in remembrance of our fallen heroes and in gratitude for the freedoms they fought to protect.

May we never forget those who gave everything for our nation. 🇺🇸

FOUND DOG!
This pup was found in the South end of Menands near Wolfert Ave. We believe it is a King Corso Pitbull mix. Colonie Animal Control currently has the pup and will be bringing it to the Boght Animal Hospital. Let's get this pup back home safe and sound!
