Santa Rosa Academy: Building Rangers for a Rapidly Changing World

What does it take to prepare students for a future that keeps changing? At Santa Rosa Academy, the answer lies in combining academic excellence with flexibility, hands-on learning, and real-world career pathways.

Founded in 2005 with just 59 homeschooled students, Santa Rosa Academy has grown into a WASC-accredited K–12 public charter school serving more than 1,800 students in California.

Guided by its core values of excellence, integrity, and respect, the Academy equips students with opportunities to explore engineering, biomedical sciences, multimedia arts, business management, and administration of justice.

Its Early College High School program allows students to experience college-level coursework while still in high school, with graduates earning an average of more than 30 transferable college units. Meanwhile, project-based learning, career pathways, and personalized learning options help students connect classroom knowledge with future opportunities.

With a reported 99.2% graduation rate, Santa Rosa Academy demonstrates how rigorous academics and responsive learning environments can work together to prepare the next generation of thinkers, creators, and leaders.

Campus Video Spotlight - Carmel Building K-12 Library & Ms. Payan

This week I had the privilege of visiting the school library in our Carmel building on campus. Ms. Payan, library media/curriculum support specialist, along with two different classes of students, treated me like an honored guest. Ms. Payan works hard to maintain the library and wants all visitors, whether student, staff or community member, to feel welcome, comfortable and see the beauty that the love of reading books can bring.

Spending time in the library I was able to see the new books, lights and furnishings, but it was the excited students that brought real joy to the visit. Both classes were happy to show me their favorite books, funny they were mostly the graphic novels.

I hope you see a glimpse of everything Ms. Payan does for our SRA family and see the charm of the Carmel Building K-12 Library.
