ā†”ļø MOVE OVER to an available lane when it's safe and required.
🐢 SLOW DOWN when you cannot safely move over and proceed with caution.

Every day, people in our communities put themselves in harm's way to help others. Let's do our part to protect them.

ā¤ļø Dunn County, let's look out for one another. A few seconds of caution could save someone's life.

MFD was proud to receive a grant from the Community Foundation of Dunn County to replace vital Stop the Bleed supplies in our area schools. These supplies are critical in successfully stopping major hemorrhage and can significantly improve patient outcomes. These supply kits are located next to every AED in the SDMA. While we hope no one ever has to use them, it is comforting to know they are there if needed.

Please help us thank the Community Foundation of Dunn County and their generous donors for helping us in our pursuit of improving safety in our community!

Come ā€œhang outā€ with us at the MFD open house! From now until 7:30pm.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the State Patrol and Trooper Ritger’s family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin State Patrol announce the line-of-duty death of Trooper Bradley Ritger at the age of 29.

On September 21, 2026, Trooper Ritger was responding to a traffic pursuit when he deployed a tire deflation device on a bridge deck west of the Dunn County/Eau Claire County line. As he moved to a position of cover, he fell from the bridge onto the roadway below. Despite lifesaving efforts and critical medical care, Trooper Ritger succumbed to his injuries on October 2, 2026.

Trooper Ritger joined the Wisconsin State Patrol as a member of the 67th Recruit Class. He served in the Northwest Region for nearly five years, primarily in the Dunn County area. During his career, he attained certifications as a general law enforcement instructor, mobile field force team member and squad leader, and salvage vehicle inspector. Prior to his service with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Trooper Ritger served with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for three years.

Trooper Ritger was a dedicated public servant whose strong work ethic and positive presence left a lasting impact on anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He approached every situation with professionalism, integrity and a genuine commitment to serving others. Whether assisting the public, supporting his fellow troopers, or taking on difficult challenges, he consistently demonstrated compassion and willingness to help wherever needed. His dedication to his family and unwavering commitment to his profession will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Trooper Ritger’s family, friends, loved ones and all who served alongside him. As the community mourns, the Wisconsin State Patrol has placed a law enforcement memorial vehicle at its Northwest Region Post in Eau Claire where the public is welcome to drop off cards, flowers, or other condolences.

Out of respect for the family, no additional information will be shared at this time. Funeral arrangements are being made by the family. We kindly ask media and the public to respect their privacy and space for grieving.

Today, we pause to remember the 343 members of the FDNY who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.

When the call came, they ran toward danger while others were trying to escape it. They climbed the stairs of the World Trade Center with one purpose — to help people in need. Their bravery, sacrifice and devotion to duty continue to define what it means to serve as a firefighter.

We also honor the police officers, firefighters, EMS providers, construction workers and countless volunteers who worked at Ground Zero in the days, weeks and months that followed. Many paid a lasting price for their service, developing serious illnesses from their exposure at the site.

Even today, the toll of September 11 continues to be felt.

Every name represents more than a number. It represents a husband or wife, a parent, a child, a friend, a brother or sister, and a firehouse that lost one of its own.

Twenty-five years later, we remember those we lost, recognize those who continue to suffer, and reaffirm our commitment to never forget the sacrifices made that day.

Today and always, we stand with our brothers and sisters in New York and with every family whose lives were forever changed on September 11.

Never Forget.
