This one hurts.
Today District 6 Councilmember Fue Xiong posted his voter guide and under Measure B wrote “NO; No more taxes for pigs.”
Pigs. That’s how he described the officers who show up when your family is in danger, who patrol our streets at night, and who risk their lives so the rest of us can sleep.
He says he wants a Merced “where everyone is safe.” How do you keep a city safe while calling the people who protect it pigs? Our officers are mothers, fathers, neighbors, and veterans. They deserve gratitude, not this.
Merced families count on them every single day. They don’t deserve a city councilmember who talks about them this way.

This is not okay.
Brian Pacheco’s team has reportedly littered and smoked two days in a row at a private home next to his office in Merced simply because the home displays his rival’s campaign sign.
A yard sign is protected political speech. Targeting that property with litter and smoking, right next to the candidate’s own office, is not campaigning. It is retaliation against a homeowner for supporting the other candidate. Doing it again the next day makes clear it was intentional.
Political competition belongs at the ballot box and on the issues. It does not include treating someone’s private property as a place to dump trash and smoke because they put up a Murphy sign, especially when that home is next door to your own office.
Candidates are responsible for the people working on their behalf. If Brian Pacheco’s team is littering and smoking at homes with opposing signs right next to his Merced office, he needs to stop it immediately, hold those involved accountable, and make clear this behavior will not continue.
Voters in Assembly District 27 should pay attention. Campaigns that resort to littering and smoking at private homes over a yard sign are showing their character. Merced, Madera, and Fresno County families deserve better than this.

YES on 39 Rally in Merced – Fantastic Turnout Tonight!
What an incredible night at the Merced County Fairgrounds! The Yes on Proposition 39 (Voter ID) rally had a fantastic turnout the room was packed with patriotic Californians ready to secure our elections.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, brought energy, and stood up for common-sense election integrity. Special thanks to Carl DeMaio, Mike Murphy, and the Reform California team for bringing the message straight to Merced County. The support for requiring government-issued ID to vote was loud and clear.
California is one of the last holdouts without real voter ID. Prop 39 fixes that: in-person voters show ID, mail ballots include the last four digits of a designated ID, and officials work to verify citizenship on the rolls. It’s supported by voters across party lines because it’s simple, fair, and builds trust.
If you were there, thank you.
If you couldn’t make it, the fight is just getting started.

Esmeralda Soria is asking voters in Senate District 14 to trust her judgment. That record includes the conduct of her husband, Terance Frazier.
Frazier, a candidate for the State Center Community College District board, was reported at a rival’s home after 8 p.m., at the mailbox, and looking through the windows. When confronted, he did not give his own name. On video, he identifies himself as Charles and asks for a name that appeared on mail misdelivered to that address the same day. A Fresno police report has been filed, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service has been asked to review the mailbox allegation. The district’s faculty union has called the conduct disqualifying.
Soria is not a bystander to his public record. She is his wife, and she has already used her office to defend his Granite Park dealings before the Fresno City Council. Voters are entitled to weigh the company a candidate keeps and the conduct she is willing to stand beside before sending her to the State Senate.
