At the October 20, 2026, Merced County Board of Supervisors meeting, the following individuals were reappointed to continue serving our community:

Planning Commission

Demitrios Tatum — Reappointed as Commissioner representing District 1 through October 1, 2030.
Kurt Spycher — Reappointed as Commissioner representing District 4 through October 1, 2030.

Merced County Local Child Care Planning Council

Sarah Alvernaz — Reappointed to continue serving as a Consumer Representative through June 30, 2028.

On Monday, Merced County welcomed U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling and California Labor and Workforce Development Agency Secretary Stewart Knox for a visit focused on workforce development, industry partnerships, and agricultural technology.

From advanced manufacturing to workforce collaboration and the future of ag-tech education, the visit highlighted how partnerships between government, education, and business are helping prepare workers for tomorrow’s jobs.

Board of Supervisors Meeting - October 20, 2026

Merced County, the City of Los Banos, and the Merced County Association of Governments celebrated the completion of the Pioneer Road Rehabilitation and Pioneer Road/Ortigalita Intersection Improvement projects with a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier today.

The projects include 2.9 miles of newly resurfaced roadway and a new traffic signal to improve safety and traffic flow. Completed ahead of schedule and under budget, these improvements highlight the power of regional collaboration and Measure V funding to meet our communities’ transportation needs.

Thank you to our partners for helping make these important improvements a reality!

At its most recent meeting, the Board of Supervisors honored the winners of this year's Merced County Volunteer Recognition Program. One winner was chosen from each supervisorial district by the County's Volunteer Recognition Screening Committee, and are listed below:

District 5: Los Banos Police Activities League

The 2026 Merced County Volunteer Recognition Program was a time to say “thank you” to the many volunteers who make outstanding contributions to their communities throughout the year.
