The Community Foundation of Merced County hosted the Westside Health Clinic Pilot Program for free student athlete sports physicals at Pacheco High School, part of the Los Banos Unified School District.
The clinic provided sports physical clearances, education promoting healthy lifestyles, concussion awareness, hydration and nutrition education for student athletes and school administration, and recommendations for community-based resources as needed.
By bringing services directly to local schools, this pilot program helped improve access to healthcare, wellness education, and support resources for students and families throughout the Westside.
Thank you to Dr. Boggs and your amazing staff for treating 100 students! 🧡

Our Program Administrator, Jennifer Summers, has spent considerable time on the Westside of Merced County because of the L.T. & Margaret Shain Trust Scholarships. Upon their passing, the Shains bequeathed $1,000,000 to establish a permanent scholarship fund supporting graduating seniors in the top 10% of their class who are pursuing careers in Agriculture or Medical fields. Only Westside high school seniors are eligible for this scholarship.
The recipients from Los Banos High School’s Class of 2026 are Karley Rocha, Stephanie Alvarez Ramirez, Sarah Sowersby, Melody Dutra, and Jaci Bretz. Congratulations, Tigers!

As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who lost their lives during active military service to our country. This solemn day serves as a time of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
As you spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect, honor their memory, and stay safe.
The Community Foundation of Merced County office will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day and will return to normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

This evening, we attended the State of Hunger Address at the Merced County Food Bank. It was an impactful evening highlighting the many ways our community can come together to support neighbors facing food insecurity.
We were especially proud to see the Community Foundation of Merced County recognized for working alongside the Food Bank and supporting the World Has Heart Project with Monika Modest! Together, we surpassed our goal of $50,000! 🧡 What an incredible example of compassion, partnership, and community in action.
Thank you Bill, Joe, and Bridget for bringing us all together!
