Merced County Continues Preparedness Work for Storm Season:
Work crews are continuing efforts to clear creeks and waterways ahead of the forecasted El Niño storm season. Removing debris and excess vegetation helps improve water flow and reduce potential obstructions during periods of heavy rainfall.
Here’s where crews are working:
• Bear Creek near Campus Parkway, moving downstream toward McKee Road.
• Bear Creek between Crocker Dam and Bert Crane Road.
• Miles Creek in the Planada area.
Please use caution when traveling near these work sites. You may encounter personnel and equipment along the way. Slow down, stay alert, and give workers plenty of room to do their jobs safely.
As we head into the winter weather season, now is also a good time to prepare for potential emergencies:
• Sign up for emergency alerts: www.countyofmerced.com/alert
• Bookmark the Merced County Perimeter Map: https://perimetermap.com/Merced-CA
Signing up for the Merced County Emergency Notification System helps us communicate with you during an emergency situation. The Perimeter Map provides important information during emergencies, including road closures, evacuation areas, shelters, sandbag locations, and more.
A little preparation today can make a big difference when severe weather arrives. Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay safe!
