The Merced Fire Department is proud to announce that Fire Chief Casey Wilson has promoted Ryan Paskin to the rank of Battalion Chief.
Chief Paskin will serve as the B Shift Battalion Chief and begin his new assignment on June 20, 2026.
Please join us in congratulating Chief Paskin on this well-earned promotion and wishing him continued success in his new leadership role serving the firefighters and community of Merced.

Today, Merced Fire Department firefighters had a great time working with the youth from the Boys & Girls Club of Merced during hands on fire extinguisher training. Participants learned the basics of fire safety and had the opportunity to practice using extinguishers on our live training prop.
This training prop was made possible through a grant and strong partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Merced, helping us provide interactive fire safety education to the next generation. We appreciate the continued collaboration and commitment to keeping our community safe.
