Did you know Merchantville has its own YouTube channel?! You can subscribe and livestream Council meetings on Monday and even check out previously recorded meetings! Unfortunately, the audio is not the best, you can only hear the folks speaking directly into their microphones. While this is a great alternative to taxpayers who cannot attend meetings in person, it would be helpful if their were other alternatives like Facebook Live, where followers to the Borough page get a notification of the meeting. What other suggestions do you have to make Council meetings more accessible?

One way to learn more about what your Council is discussing and what’s happening in Merchantville is to peruse the agendas, minutes, resolutions and ordinances page on the Merchantvillenj.gov website. You can read the Council meeting minutes from the previous month, which is a generalized summary from the clerk of what was discussed — however, it appears the August 2026 minutes are delayed. If you want to see the agendas for each Council meeting, click on the agendas that are posted prior to each Monday evening council meeting. If attending evening Council meetings or logging on to another Zoom call is not an option, you can still stay up to date (as long as it’s updated 😅) through the borough council website. All links are available in our bio!

Do you know how your local government works? Do you know who your Council members are, what they do and when they meet? Have you been to a Council meeting before?

Many of us haven’t and that’s OK! Maybe you aren’t familiar with how local NJ politics works because you didn’t grow up here, that’s OK too! What questions do you have or keep you from understanding or attending your local Council meetings?

Hello Neighbors — it’s been a few months since an update and we’re ready to share our mission and vision for Merchantville Informed.

An informed community is an engaged community, and transparency starts with making information accessible to everyone. On this community page we will keep you up to date on council discussions, meeting minutes, proposals, ordinances and resolutions passed, and any other issues or concerns that impact our community directly. This is a space for you to discuss and share your ideas with your neighbors, be curious and ask questions, and engage with each other. Local government isn’t always accessible or easy to navigate, our goal is to help keep you updated on your community.

This is why Amie ran for Merchantville council and was so adamant that neighbors deserve better. At the last council meeting we were told by the borough engineer that the pump on Glenwood Ave works just fine, it’s pumped millions and millions of gallons of water. Respectfully, your neighbors and the residents of Glenwood Ave and surrounding streets of Holly and Ivins, beg to differ.

The next borough council meeting is Monday, July 13th at 7:30pm. See ya there!

We previously shared the graphic below but did not include the overvotes or undervotes. We want to explain what those are why they matter.

Undervotes are typical in any campaign, it’s when the voter selects less candidate(s) to vote for than they are able to. These voters most likely voted for 0 or 1 of the candidates for council, which is absolutely normal and happens all the time.

What we are concerned with is the number of overvotes reported. An overvote is when the voter fills in more than the ovals they are allowed for that elected position, therefore rendering their ballot invalid and it’s removed from the count. This typically happens when the voter is confused by a ballot and is rarely their intention. It’s also why we fought so hard for a legal and fair ballot in our election. We had the line ballots and not the box ballots that every other county in New Jersey had on June 2nd. Thanks to County Clerk Pamela Lampitt, a taxpayer paid position who makes a six figure salary, who designed an illegal ballot. We’ve brought this to the attention of Louis Cappelli Jr., the rest of the Camden County Government and Donald Norcross — but they still moved forward with the line ballots and not the box ballots. A difference of 24 votes could have completely changed the outcome of our election — for any of the candidates involved. Which begs the question, why didn’t the other candidates say anything about the illegal ballots? We’re all Democrats here.
We are frustrated that instead of fair ballots for all candidates involved, 12 ballots were deemed invalid and not counted. Merchantville taxpayers and voters deserve better.

Hey neighbors! The final results are in by the Board of Elections. Amie missed out on a sweep with Kim by 14 votes. Yes, 14 (given a recount came back in our favor 😆).
This is why every election matters. Why every vote counts. Why talking to your neighbors is so important. And why getting involved is so crucial to change and growth in your community. We don’t have term limits in Merchantville.
One last thought regarding the primary election, y’all turned out! 🗳️👏👏 We had more voters in this primary election than in years prior and the excitement from everyone was so infectious. Please stay tuned for a get-together for supporters and neighbors in July!

The Board of Elections is still finalizing the results, and with only 13 provisional ballots still in process, Kim will be our only candidate to move forward in the general election!
We knew going into this it would be an uphill battle, but we were determined to give neighbors a choice in this primary election and not the status quo. From hijacked events, to illegal ballots and weird social media pages that only shared one set of candidates — we persevered and our grassroots campaign took off! Thank you for opening your beautiful porches, patios, stoops and backyards. We got to meet and speak with so many of our neighbors during canvassing, what a wonderful experience to share conversations and our vision for Merchantville with all of you 🫶
Endless thank you’s to all of you who donated to our campaign, put a sign in your yard, came to our town halls, canvassed, passed out flyers, voted for and/or supported us. It truly takes a dedicated team of volunteers/neighbors to accomplish what we did, we couldn’t have done any of it without you 💙 🩵
