💙 This is an opportunity every parent of a child with an IEP should know about! 💙

As a parent, one of the most important things we can do is make sure our children have the support, resources, and knowledge they need to transition successfully into adulthood. 🫶🏽

This “Know Your Rights: Preparing for Adulthood” virtual workshop is especially meaningful because it gives families the opportunity to learn about their children’s rights, transition planning, education, employment, independent living, and the resources available to help them succeed.

If you are a parent of a student with an IEP between the ages of 14–22, or even if your child has not yet turned 14 but you want to start preparing early, please take advantage of this opportunity!

And the best part? 💻 You can participate virtually from the comfort of your own home! There are two options:

📅 Thursday, September 17, 2026 | 7:00–8:00 PM
📅 Saturday, September 19, 2026 | 10:00–11:00 AM

This is about more than attending a workshop—it’s about knowing our children’s rights, being prepared, asking the right questions, and advocating for the future they deserve. ❤️

As parents, we are our children’s strongest advocates. Let’s educate ourselves, prepare early, and make sure our children have every opportunity to thrive. 💙

📌 Please share this post with another parent who may benefit from this information!

🎓✨ Congratulations to All Students and Graduates Class of 2026✨🎓

As a member of the Board of Education, and as someone who deeply believes in the power of education, I want to personally congratulate every student who reached an academic milestone this year. Today is more than a celebration of completion—it is a celebration of perseverance, growth, and courage.

I have seen firsthand the challenges our students have faced and the determination they have shown to keep moving forward. Your achievements are a reflection of your hard work, the unwavering support of your families, and the dedication of our educators and school staff who pour their hearts into serving you every day.

Education is personal to me. It represents hope, opportunity, and the foundation for stronger communities. Watching our students rise, overcome, and dream bigger reminds me why this work matters so much.

As you move on to the next grade, a new school, or a new chapter, know that you are supported, believed in, and valued. Never underestimate your voice, your potential, or the impact you can make.

📘 A message from the heart:

“Your education is your power—carry it with confidence, use it with purpose, and let it open doors no one can close.”

Congratulations to all our students and graduates. I am incredibly proud of you, and I look forward to seeing all that you will accomplish. 🌟📚

Yesterday, I had the honor of attending the recognition ceremony for Bryan McCarty, Head Wrestling Coach and Special Education Teacher at Platt High School, and a proud inductee into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame with over 500 career wins.

As a parent and Board of Education member, it was inspiring to witness his impact firsthand and to watch the Platt Panthers compete against Enfield.

Thank you, Coach McCarty, for your decades of dedication, leadership, and commitment to our students and athletes. 💙🤼‍♂️
