Thank you to our incredible bus drivers for keeping our students safe! 🚌

|

This week is National School Bus Safety Week, and we're talking about how drivers can help keep some of our most vulnerable road users safe: our students.

But first, we want to give a big shoutout to the dedicated professionals behind the wheel of our school buses each and every day. Rain, snow, or shine, these drivers are out there getting thousands of students safely to and from school - and their job is no easy ride. They're responsible for keeping a bus full of students safe, watching for kids getting on and off, navigating traffic, and keeping an eye out for distracted drivers. That's a lot to manage, and they do it every single day. That's why we're spending this week sharing reminders about how you can help make their jobs a little easier and our students a whole lot safer. We're all on the same team when it comes to student safety, and our bus drivers deserve teammates who are paying attention.

🚲 Ready, Set, RIDE! 🚲

There were some BIG smiles and plenty of excitement at Chaparral Elementary School yesterday!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Life Time Foundation LifeTime.Life, Chaparral's kindergarten students received a special surprise — brand-new bikes to help them learn to ride, build confidence and develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime!

The excitement really took off when the bikes were unveiled, and students got their first chance to take them for a spin around the gym!

A HUGE thank you to the Life Time Foundation and everyone who helped make this special day possible. ❤️

Sometimes the best lessons happen outside the classroom. And sometimes, they happen on two wheels!

Monday night's West Ada Board of Trustees meeting gave us plenty to celebrate, along with some important conversations about district finances.

Galileo STEM Academy did an outstanding job leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Principal Rob Lamb shared an academic spotlight. One of the best parts of the presentation was the school's Gali-Lego project. What's happening with K–8 engineering at Galileo is truly spectacular!

Lake Hazel Middle School Principal Cara Hinkson also shared an academic update. She brought along several students who highlighted the great things happening with the Lynx. What the students had to say about their Sources of Strength program and peer tutoring is absolutely worth watching at the link below!

Chief Financial Officer Dave Roberts presented the district's 2025–26 financial audit. Special thanks to Donna Lee, who helped shepherd this project to completion before her retirement at the end of the month.

Chief Operations Officer Dr. David Reinhart discussed a proposed land transfer agreement with the City of Star and an agreement involving School Resource Officer (SRO) reimbursement. The board unanimously approved both the proposal and the audit.

Chief Academic Officer Cliff Rice introduced three policies for their first readings, addressing student discipline, bullying and expulsion. These discussions are an important part of maintaining safe, welcoming learning environments for all students.

Thank you to our trustees, educators, staff and families for everything you do to make West Ada such a special community!

🎙️New West Ada podcast out now!🎙️

We’re talking Idaho Battle of the Books with librarians and students from Heritage Middle School.

Seventh grader Autumn loves the competition, but for her, the best part is something even bigger—the chance to open a great book and see where your imagination takes you.

That’s what IBOB is all about: great books, teamwork, competition and discovering a love of reading along the way.
